Job Overview: Join ESPN's dynamic production team as an Entry-Level Audio Operator, where you will play a vital role in delivering high-quality audio for live sports events. This position focuses on mixing and overseeing live audio in a fast-paced environment, embracing non-traditional production methods.
Key Responsibilities:
- Deliver live audio mixing for various sports productions that adhere to ESPN's high standards for quality, including talent microphones, music, sound effects, and more.
- Demonstrate a foundational understanding of audio mixing techniques and principles, including microphone types, EQ, and compression.
- Troubleshoot technical issues related to broadcast equipment and effectively communicate resolutions.
- Contribute to the development of team members through participation in training sessions and workshops.
- Collaborate with the Event Operations team to assess production needs efficiently.
- Assist with administrative tasks across platforms such as O365 and Smartsheet.
Qualifications:
- 2 years of experience in TV production or related fields at small to medium broadcast markets or digital streaming platforms.
- Familiarity with audio production technology including mixing consoles and signal flow concepts.
- Ability to manage multiple tasks under tight deadlines within a team environment.
- Flexible scheduling, including the capability to work nights, weekends, and holidays as required.
- Strong communication, organizational, and planning skills.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience in live audio mixing using industry-standard equipment.
- Understanding of complex audio workflows and troubleshooting within broadcast settings.
- Knowledge of digital audio console programming based on production requirements.
- Experience with remote integrated productions and non-traditional broadcasting models.
- Bilingual (English/Spanish) is a plus.
Education:
- High School Diploma or equivalent. Bachelor's Degree in Communication, Studio/Television Production, or related field preferred.
Must be able to work nights, holidays, and weekends. You will be part of a committed team at ESPN, located in Bristol, CT, USA.
