Position Summary :
The Youth Program and Outreach Coordinator is responsible for planning, coordinating, and leading youth programming as well as recruiting youth through social media and community outreach. They will actively engage youth in activities that explore cultural identity, build community relationships, and facilitate personal development. These include performing arts, community gardening, outdoor recreation, and intergenerational activities with elders. They will work closely with the Executive Director and Youth Program staff to develop engaging programs and activities to educate and support youth and strengthen the community. The ideal candidate is committed to equity and social justice and will play a key part in fulfilling KCSKC’s mission of empowering the Khmer community.
Responsibilities : Program Management
- Develop, coordinate, and facilitate youth, including performing arts, community gardening, summer outdoor recreation, and intergenerational activities
- Manage youth program event calendar and some social media contents creation
- Work family and youth engagement manager to develop, coordinate, and facilitate youth support group
- Maintain detailed youth program records and assist Operations staff with relevant grant reporting
Program Outreach
Conduct outreach and youth recruitment through social media and in-person interactionManage organization social media accounts, including posting regular program updates and community resourcesDevelop partnerships with local schools and community organizationsOrganizational Support
Assist with general administrative tasks as neededAssist with planning and supporting public eventsAttend staff meetings and trainingsCollaborate with other staff on projects as neededQualifications :
Experience working with youth, at least 2 years preferredExperience with social media communications, at least 2 years preferredStrong written and oral communication skillsDemonstrated ability to work well both independently and collaborativelyCommitment to racial, gender, and environmental justice and uplifting youth voicesFlexible and responsive to community needKnowledge of Khmer culture and community needs and / or desire to learnAdditional Considerations
Valid WA driver’s license requiredPass Washington State criminal background checkEvening / weekend hours required based on program needsSome moderate physical activity required, including gardening and outdoor recreation as well as participating in Khmer Amarak
