HVAC Service Department Manager Duties & Responsibilities - Manage and oversee the Building Service team including service technicians, dispatchers, and support staff
- Responsible for all aspects of Service Department process and procedures to ensure customer satisfaction, growth, sustainability, compliance and accurate data entry process
- Oversee dispatch procedures to ensure crew and customer success
- Responsible for collections, billing of services, and ensuring Service Department invoices match work order amounts
- Responsible for the interviewing and hiring of Service Department personnel
- Develop and manage department budgets, monitor profitability metrics, and implement strategies to improve margins
- Build and maintain strong relationships with key commercial clients and handle escalated customer concerns
- Conduct regular team meetings, performance evaluations, and implement training programs
- Monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) and drive continuous improvement initiatives
- Ensure compliance with all safety regulations, building codes, and company policies
- Review complex technical issues and provide guidance on commercial HVAC solutions
- Oversee preventive maintenance programs and service agreement fulfillment
- Identify opportunities for service contract growth and collaborate with sales on new business development
HVAC Service Department Manager Qualifications - 10+ years of HVAC commercial service management experience
- Must have a strong commercial HVAC background with comprehensive knowledge of chillers, boilers, VRF systems, controls, and building automation systems
- Demonstrated ability to oversee and manage a team of service and installation technicians
- Strong customer relations and business development skills
- EPA Universal Certification required
- Valid driver's license with clean driving record
- Proven track record of meeting or exceeding department goals and KPIs
- Proficiency with service management software and Microsoft Office Suite
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities
- Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment
- Must be authorized to work in the U.S.
