Bernstein Shur, a New England-based law firm that advises clients across the U.S. and around the world, is seeking a Finance Generalist, as part of the Finance Department, based out of our Portland, Maine office.
POSITION OVERVIEW :
This position as Finance Generalist will be a versatile role within our Finance organization, assisting in multiple functions within the Finance department. This position is a great opportunity for the right candidate to be exposed to many facets of small business finance. The ideal candidate is a results-driven, detail-oriented professional who can effectively meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment. Although relevant experience is a plus, this organization is dedicated to investing in and adequately training the ideal candidate to add to our collaborative team of professionals.

DESIRED SKILLS & QUALIFICATIONS
- Associate degree required
- Two years of previous experience, preferably a professional services industry
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Superior people / interpersonal skills
- Keen ability to communicate and collaborate effectively with employees at all levels
- Work discreetly with confidential information
- Must be proactive, accountable and have excellent judgment
- Detail-oriented and able to work in a fast-paced environment while maintaining accurate data input
Job Responsibilities
RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE
Initiate conflict of interest database searches using the firm 3E Time and Billing systemReview and verify that conflict searches are complete and accurateDisseminate conflict search reports for review and approvalReview submitted documentation for completeness and conduct follow-up as appropriate for new clients and matters set upEnter and maintain all relevant clients / matters dataDocument approval and declinations of clients / mattersRespond to inquiries and requests promptly, with courtesy and efficiencyOther finance department tasks including but not limited to the following :Onboard / offboard tasksClose and reopen clients / mattersUpdate attorney designations for clients / mattersUpdate all relevant timekeeper dataGenerating 3E reports such as client and matter lists as requestedProcess declined clients / mattersWork with cross-functional areas within the Finance department to fulfill the business needs of the FirmProvide backup support for Finance Staff and functions (i.e. Accounts Receivable & Collections, Cash Receipts, Accounts Payable & Trust Accounting).Job Benefits
