This mid sized Venture Capital investment company is dedicated to founding, funding, and building innovative startups in data, artificial intelligence, and related technologies. Led by a team of serial founders with multiple successful exits, the firm operates with a collaborative, people‑first culture—working directly with portfolio companies from initial concept through growth and exit. Every startup begins in‑house with full seed funding before external investors are invited to participate at later stages. The Head of Recruiting is both a strategic leader and hands‑on operator, responsible for shaping the talent brand, leading high‑impact searches across technical and business roles, and helping portfolio founders make their most important hires. You’ll work closely with partners and company founders to forecast talent needs, build targeted pipelines, and execute end‑to‑end recruiting strategies. This position requires someone eager to experiment with new approaches for sourcing exceptional talent, including hard‑to‑reach technical and entrepreneurial profiles. Compensation : $180,000 - $200,000 base salary (negotiable based on experience) plus bonus and equity.

Location : In‑office in San Francisco, with flexibility for occasional remote work. Candidates must live in the San Francisco area and be willing to work primarily onsite.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and strengthen the organization’s overall talent brand.
  • Design recruiting strategies that attract exceptional candidates across multiple startups and disciplines.
  • Lead searches for key technical, product, and go‑to‑market roles across portfolio companies.
  • Identify and open new talent channels, including niche or unconventional communities.
  • Collaborate with marketing to plan events, campaigns, and creative outreach programs.
  • Test and refine talent messaging and positioning, iterating based on candidate response.
  • Stay attuned to market dynamics, ensuring recruiting approaches remain agile and competitive.
  • What You’ll Bring

  • 7–10 years of experience in recruiting, ideally as the first talent leader within an early‑stage startup.
  • Demonstrated success running complex, search‑driven recruiting efforts for specialized and senior roles.
  • Strong network and credibility within the engineering, product, and GTM communities.
  • Exceptional communication and influencing skills, with the ability to engage across all organizational levels.
  • A proactive, hands‑on approach with a growth mindset and the ability to turn vision into execution.
