JOB TITLE : Education Specialist Aide
REPORTS TO : Educational Specialist & School Director
CLASSIFICATION : Non-Exempt / Full-Time
Position Overview
The Education Specialist Aide plays a key role in supporting the academic, behavioral, and social-emotional needs of students with disabilities and other learning needs at the Academy of Creative Technologies - Antelope Valley. Under the supervision of the Educational Specialist and School Director, the Aide assists in the implementation of Individualized Education Programs (IEPs), supports inclusive classroom practices, and reinforces instructional activities. This position requires adaptability, compassion, strong communication skills, and a commitment to inclusive and student-centered learning environments.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist the Educational Specialist in implementing IEP goals and providing instructional accommodations and modifications to ensure student success in general education settings.
- Support individual students and small groups by reinforcing learning objectives, addressing academic needs, and promoting positive behavior.
- Provide classroom support during whole-group and small-group instruction, as directed by the Educational Specialist or general education teacher.
- Help maintain a safe, respectful, and structured learning environment for all students, including those with behavioral or emotional needs.
- Assist with the collection of data for progress monitoring and IEP documentation.
- Support students in developing social and self-regulation skills through positive reinforcement, redirection, and consistent routines.
- Utilize educational technology, assistive tools, and digital platforms to enhance student learning and accessibility.
- Support the development of student projects and portfolios, including those involving performing arts, technology, or career and technical education (CTE) themes.
- Assist with scheduling, supervising, and facilitating student movement across school activities and settings, ensuring safety and inclusion.
- Collaborate with general education teachers, Care Team members, counselors, and the SSC to ensure students receive necessary accommodations and supports.
- Participate in student support meetings (SSTs, 504s, IEPs) when invited and contribute observations and feedback.
- Communicate professionally with students, staff, and families, maintaining confidentiality and respect at all times.
- Actively participate in professional development related to special education, inclusive practices, and behavior intervention strategies.
- Support crisis response and de-escalation procedures as needed under the direction of credentialed staff.
Qualifications
High school diploma or equivalent required; some college coursework in education, psychology, or child development strongly preferred.Experience working with students with disabilities in a school or youth-serving setting.Familiarity with IEPs, accommodations, and inclusive education practices.Strong interpersonal skills and ability to build supportive relationships with students and colleagues.Proficiency in educational technology tools and platforms (e.g., Google Workspace, learning management systems).Ability to follow teacher guidance while working independently and proactively.Excellent organizational and time management skills.Strong verbal and written communication skills.Commitment to equity, inclusion, and social-emotional learning.Capacity to remain calm and professional in high-stress or crisis situations.Passion for working in a mission-driven, creative, and collaborative educational environment.Compensation
Compensation is commensurate with experience and placement on the appropriate pay rate chart.

25 - 25 USD per hour (1335 Rancho Vista Blvd. Palmdale, CA 93551)
