Full-time diesel mechanic needed for growing, wholesale lumber treating facility and building products distributor in Cortland, New York. This hands on position will join our current team of four, full-time mechanics in our 10,000 square foot mechanic shop. Additionally, the position will help maintain a fleet of trucks, trailers, forklifts, passenger vehicles, and small engines.
Applicants should demonstrate excellent technical and communication skills.

Responsibilities and Duties of a Diesel Mechanic
- Maintaining a fleet of diesel forklifts, from PM to full engine rebuilds.
- Maintaining a fleet of truck and flatbed trailers.
- Maintaining gas engines (passenger vehicles, small engines, etc).
- Ordering parts as needed.
- Performing inspections and road tests of completed repairs to ensure quality of repair and suitability of vehicle for return to service.
- Completing detailed PM Inspections and other paperwork.
- Maintaining brakes, wheels / tires, air and hydraulic systems.
- Using electronic testing equipment such as multi meters, volt amp testers and load testers.
- Performing all duties in a safe manner.
- Maintaining a professional manner and a neat and orderly working area.
- Certifications preferred : ASE, brake certification, A / C etc.
- Operating cutting and welding equipment a plus.
- NY Inspection certification a plus.
Other Responsibilities of a Diesel Mechanic Include :
Working closely with four other mechanics.Maintaining accurate work records.Ability to work with little or no supervision; a self-starter.Ability to work flexible schedules when needed.Clean driving record and reliable transportation.Must possess tools necessary to complete the requirements of the position
