Job Details

  • Operates and / or prepares specialized equipment to perform magnetic imaging procedures.
  • Applies technical judgment to obtain studies of acceptable diagnostic quality according to protocols and patient needs.
  • Performs MRI imaging procedures.
  • Positions patients and associated coils to obtain optimum study.
  • Provides patient education relevant to specific imaging procedures.
  • Reviews patient safety questionnaire prior to MRI scan room entry.
  • Ensures MRI images are appropriately labeled as per department SOP.
  • Evaluates images for technical acceptability and ensures timely transmission to PACS.
  • Completes studies in Radiology Information System (IDX) timely.
  • Maintains cleanliness of radiology room and equipment at start and end of shift.
  • Scans patient-related documents.
  • Maintains supplies and accessories necessary for duties.
  • Accurately records patient tracking information into IDX.
  • Schedules exams into IDX as required.
  • Reports needed repairs or unsafe conditions to supervisor.
  • Assists physician directly as required.
  • Calls for in-patients as required.
  • Performs related clerical duties in absence of support personnel.
  • Adheres to safety guidelines to prevent ferromagnetic material introduction into scan room.
  • Follows infection control policies and protocols.
  • Attends in-services and professional development meetings as required.
  • Maintains licensure specific to job in good standing per Public Health Code.
  • Other relevant duties as assigned.

    • Job Requirements

  • Strong background in cross sectional anatomy, physical sciences and M.R. physics.
  • Excellent technical skills, knowledge of cross-sectional anatomy and physiology.
  • Graduate of an AMA / J.C.E.R.T. approved program in Radiologic Technology.
  • Two (2) years' experience in MRI preferred.
  • NY State License in Diagnostic Radiology required.
  • A.R.R.T. MRI registry required.
  • BCLS Certified required.
