Summary
The Lead Cardiovascular Invasive Specialist is a highly skilled healthcare professional working under the direction of Invasive Cardiologists and the Nurse Manager. This individual plays a key role in the Cardiac Catheterization Lab, ensuring the coordination of daily workflow, technical excellence during procedures, and adherence to quality and safety standards. In addition to performing clinical duties, the Lead Invasive Cardiology Specialist acts as a mentor, preceptor, and resource to staff, supporting operational efficiency and optimal patient outcomes in a complex, high-acuity procedural environment.
Essential Functions and Responsibilities Includes the Following :
Understands and adheres to Performance Standards, Policies and BehaviorsProvides daily oversight of room assignments, workflow, and staffing coordination to ensure smooth lab operations.Assists with schedule adjustments and staff coverage during callouts, high-volume periods, or emergencies.Participates in hiring, onboarding, and orientation of new staff; provides input into performance evaluations.Delivers ongoing mentorship and training to support clinical competency and staff development.Leads or participates in daily huddles, case briefings, and operational meetings.Clearly communicates and implements new processes, protocols, and departmental initiatives.Functions as lead cardiovascular invasive specialist during complex procedures in both the Cath and EP labs, including interventions, ablations, and device implants.Demonstrates expertise in operating and troubleshooting imaging, monitoring, and therapeutic equipment (e.g., IVUS, ICE, FFR / IFR, RF generators, mapping systems).Ensures proper room setup, turnover, and adherence to sterile technique and procedural protocols.Supports the interdisciplinary team by facilitating procedural flow and anticipating equipment or clinical needs.Ensures compliance with all safety standards, including infection control, radiation protection, and patient monitoring.Oversees equipment maintenance and quality control checks; initiates timely service or repair requests.Participates in accreditation and regulatory readiness efforts to ensure compliance with governmental, state, and accreditation standards.Assists with department audits, incident reporting, and continuous quality improvement projects.Oversees inventory management, including high-cost devices, consignment items, and procedural supplies in collaboration with Nursing Leadership Team and Materials Management.Coordinates with vendors and Nursing Leadership team for equipment trials, staff education, and product evaluation.Ensures accurate documentation for procedural records, supply usage, and billing purposes.Assists in charge audits and reconciliation processes to support revenue integrity.Provides safe, compassionate, and patient-centered care during all phases of procedures.Demonstrates leadership presence, professionalism, and adaptability in a fast-paced, high-stakes environment.Assists, prepares, and revises policies, and procedures.Performs all other related duties as required and / or requested based on the needs of the patient, department, and organization.Education & Experience Requirements
A graduate of a certificate or degree program or post-secondary educational program in health science (includes but not limited to, cardiovascular technology, ultrasound, radiologic technology, respiratory therapy, nursing or paramedic / EMT).Bachelor of Science Degree preferred.Successful completion of scrub technician training program or hospital-based training programAt least 5 years scrub technician or cardiac technician experience preferred.BLS, ACLS requiredRCIS or RCES requiredDemonstrates excellent clinical judgment and ability to apply new concepts and skills in invasive cardiology.Demonstrates responsibility for own professional development.About Medical Solutions Direct Hire
