Summary

MSOE invites applications for a full-time Financial Aid Counselor to join our Financial Aid Team. Providing a high level of service to students, the Financial Aid Counselor will have a primary responsibility for responding to inquiries regarding financial assistance and informing and advising students and families about financial aid eligibility, application procedures, costs and financial policies, individualizing information to the particular needs and situation of the student.

Essential Job Functions

Customer Service

• Counsel students and families on both specific and general financial aid issues through phone, email and in-person meetings.
• Respond to emails and phone inquiries to answer questions and / or resolve student issues.
• Rotate front desk duty (greeting students, answering questions, answering main office phone line, directing students to appropriate person, etc.)
• Rotate as "walk-in" counselor (meet with students and families for more in-depth conversations)
• Attend and present at campus events such as : Accepted Student Day, Open House, and Welcome Weekend.

Physical Demands

While performing the duties of this job the employee is largely sedentary, the ability to move is required. The employee is occasionally required to traverse within their work area as well as other areas on campus.

Work Environment

This job operates in a professional office environment. This role uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, and filing cabinets.

Some evening and weekend work may be necessary to participate in campus-based programs such as Open House, Accepted Student Day, and / or Welcome Weekend.
