Why This Opportunity Stands Out
If you're looking for a role where your payroll expertise
actually matters , this one stand tall. This organization is privately held, family-owned, and known for investing heavily in its people. Their employee-first mentality shows up in high engagement, strong participation in benefit programs, and real career growth stories across the team.
You'll join a payroll department that's respected across the company and tied directly into Finance and Leadership. The work is meaningful, varied, and far from the "same thing every week" routine, this function supports hourly, commission, and union-represented teammates, requiring sound judgment, accuracy, and professionalism.
The culture is steady, welcoming, and grounded. Training is thorough. Leadership is experienced and deeply collaborative. They've modernized many of their processes, strengthened cross-department communication, and built a structure where payroll is seen as a trusted partner, not an afterthought.
Workstyle & Flexibility :
After a full training period, the role moves to a partially hybrid position, with flexibility built in during payroll deadlines. When you put in extra hours to meet weekly cutoffs, you're encouraged to adjust later in the week. Overtime is minimal and well-managed.
This is an opportunity to do your best work in a stable, ethical, people-centered environment that supports long-tenured careers.
Key Responsibilities
Process weekly payroll (typically Monday & Tuesday), followed by Wednesday reporting, posting and handling employee questions.
Maintain accurate employee records for hires, terminations, wage changes, leave updates, and pay-related adjustments.
Administer union-related payroll items : contract updates, dues, anniversary adjustments, and bonus timing.
Oversee garnishments, unemployment responses, and payment reconciliations; ensure proper tax and deduction setup.
Support department initiatives, uphold confidentiality, and respond professionally to employee inquiries.
Qualifications
Hands-on experience in high-volume payroll processing and exposure to union or contract-driven payroll rules.
Practical experience working within HRIS / timekeeping systems and comfortable with spreadsheets.
Strong confidentiality, professionalism, and ability to stay composed when addressing sensitive or time-critical questions.
If you're seeking a role where you can use your payroll knowledge, grow within a stable organization, and contribute to a team that values accuracy, integrity, and collaboration - this one's worth a closer look.
