Job Summary

Parkhurst Dining at Lafayette is looking for a sustainability coordinator. This person is committed to improving food systems on campus to act as the dining liaison to the on campus Sustainability Department. Interested applicants should be ready to take on a leadership role in the Lafayette Sustainability council composed of students, faculty and staff. The Sustainability Coordinator will assist on advancing campus wide sustainability initiatives. Potential responsibilities may include designing campus campaigns in collaboration with the Marketing Manager, increasing transparency of food systems on campus, designing and implementing structures to build relationships between students and food service staff.

Summary of Essential Job Functions

· Actively participate and work closely with Parkhurst Dining and the Sustainability Office.

· Work closely with the Parkhurst management team by calling out standard operating procedures that could be adjusted to be more environmentally friendly.

· Actively promote food waste reduction and compostable collection for all dining facilities.

· Work on converting all on-the-go packaging to compostable alternatives

· Organizing and facilitating Sustainability meetings.

· Oversee and provide support for all Lafayette dining programs with respect to sustainability.

· Collect and develop a Sustainability factsheet.

· Assist with organizing and communicating local and sustainable luncheons or dinners as part of the sustainable development goals integration.

· Strong understanding and desire to communicate via social media

· Attention to detail and accuracy

· Ability to prioritize work

· Problem-solving aptitude

· Strong computer skills, MS Office, Excel, Outlook and Access
