The Corporate IT IBM i Application Development Internship will support the IBM i Development team with application documentation, onboarding material creation, and learning guide development focused on IBM i technologies such as RPG, CL, and DB2 for i. The intern will gain hands-on experience in legacy-modernization concepts, application workflows, technical documentation, and fundamental IBM i development practices. The 2026 Corporate IT IBM i Development Internship duration is anticipated to be from June 2026 through August 2026 or a mutually agreed-upon timeframe.
Responsibilities :
Assist in documenting IBM i application components, including RPG programs, CL scripts, database schemas, and batch processes.
Work with developers and business stakeholders to gather insights into current system usage and workflow dependencies.
Analyze application behavior and logs to understand program interactions and identify potential enhancement opportunities.
Develop onboarding materials to help new team members get acquainted with the IBM i environment, tools, and development standards.
Create learning resources for IBM i technologies (RPG, CL, DB2, ACS, Visual Studio Code), including beginner-friendly tutorials and reference guides.
Support modernization initiatives through documentation, mapping exercises, and research into best practices.
Compile and present findings and recommendations based on documentation, interviews, and system analysis.
Other duties as assigned.
Skills and Requirements :
Basic understanding of programming concepts (experience with RPG, CL, SQL, or similar languages is a plus).
Current college / university student pursuing a degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Software Engineering, or a related field.
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
Excellent communication skills with the ability to work collaboratively with technical and non-technical stakeholders.
Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
Ability to work independently with minimal supervision, as well as collaboratively within a team environment.
Eagerness to learn IBM i development methodologies, tools, and modernization techniques.

Internship is a paid opportunity.
Internship typically may be up to 40 hours per work week.
Internship does not provide housing stipend / allowance.
