Orange Coast College (OCC) is seeking equity-minded individuals for a classified employee role as a Student Services Program Coordinator under the Student Services Wing as part of the Counseling Division.

THE DEPARTMENT : About the OCC Guardian Scholars & Next-Up
Orange Coast Colleges Guardian Scholars Program is committed to supporting ambitious college-bound students who are current or former foster youth / wards of the court and / or Juvenile Justice Systems as well as those who have experienced similar barriers and challenges. The programs mission is to provide a comprehensive program that contributes to the quality and depth of the students college experience. It serves as a resource for young adults by assisting in their development and equipping them with the skills necessary to transfer to a four-year university or the vocation of their choice. Guardian Scholars aims to be a one-stop shop that provides caring and personalized assistance with educational goals and practical day-to-day needs to ensure that students take full advantage of college life both inside and outside the classroom. Services include academic advising textbook grants referrals to community resources and field trips and events.
The Student Services Program Coordinator for Guardian Scholars is part of the EOPS / CARE / CalWORKs / Umoja team and works closely with the program staff to coordinate support activities for former foster youth and other qualifying students. The coordinator provides direction for planning budgeting and reporting to the division college district and state entities. This position also works closely with a similar support program both in student services and instructional wings. The coordinator collaborates with other departments to develop and implement strategies for ensuring student success and communication campaigns. An important part of this position is the collaboration with faculty and academic affairs professionals to support program participants. The coordinator is also the primary liaison for community organizations agencies and other entities that support and serve this population of students.

Summary
The Student Services Program Coordinator performs a variety of complex and technical duties in support of specially funded student services programs. Incumbents in this classification are responsible for the administrative coordination of program communications planning reporting and a variety of complex activities in support of their assigned program(s).

(ON-CAMPUS - In-person position) This is a temporary contract special-funded full-time (40 hours per week) 12-month per year classified position. The District reserves the right to extend modify or eliminate this position based upon available funds. The normal hours of work will be Monday through Friday from 8 : 00 am to 5 : 00 pm with the flexibility to occasionally work extended hours and / or weekends if necessary to meet the departments needs. The effective date of employment will be arranged with the supervisor. The District provides medical dental and vision insurance for the employee and eligible dependents and life insurance for the employee .

Pay Philosophy :
