Health Care Education Programming - Volunteers NEEDED

Jeff Kornblau Partners for Patient Advocacy (JKPPA) is currently looking for a volunteer(s) to assist in the implementation and growth of our Health Care Education Program. This is an excellent opportunity for a student, a recent graduate, retiree, or someone looking to rejoin the workforce to gain experience working in a non-profit and on community programming. We are looking for bi-lingual / fluent in Spanish, Russian, and / or Ukrainian preferred

JKPPA is a non-profit public charity patient advocacy organization. Our mission is to assist clients in navigating the health care and related systems, improve patients’ communications and coordination of their own care with their providers, improve patient experiences and health outcomes, identify systemic problems and work to influence positive changes for the individual and public good.

The ideal enthusiastic and energetic volunteer will have a passion for engaging with individuals, community outreach, peer-to-peer interactions and group facilitation. You should be tech savvy and have excellent communication and presentation skills, such as someone with a background in theater or education; have the ability to learn digital health literacy principles, including health care portal applications and navigation, telemedicine, Zoom, video conferencing and accessing Social Security and Medicare / Medicaid portals as well as basic tech skills.

JKPPA offers an a la carte menu of Health Care related workshops ranging from tips before going to see your doctor to conducting an 8-week Health Care Technology Education program at local senior centers, community centers, and community libraries throughout the City of Philadelphia and surrounding area. These workshops will cover basic digital literacy, health care portal navigation, video conferencing, and navigation of health care applications, tips for medications, choosing the right insurance provider, and advocating for yourself and others, to name a few.

We are looking to immediately find a few volunteers and hold interviews for opportunities that will become available in Fall / Winter 2025.After initial training, each program has a time commitment of 2 hours per week, mostly during working day hours. Interested candidates can participate in one or more programs.

We offer opportunities for training, programming review, understanding health care expectations, tips, and becoming a part of JKPPA’s family of helping others feel confident in taking charge of their own health care!
