The Role

The Propulsion and Reactor Engineering Planning yard (PREPY) Deputy Director will report to and team with the Director to lead E50. This may include responsibilities such as sharing travel commitments (supplier oversight) leading customer meetings supporting NAVSEA strategic intiatives setting department policies overseeing quality improvement efforts and managing / auditing common procedures.

The ideal candidate should have a broad operational and design engineering knowledge of A1B and A4W propulsion plants. This includes understanding of planning yard and In-Service Engineering Agent operations. Naval Nuclear Propulsion Program experience is greatly desired.

Must Have

Bachelors Degree and 8 years of progressive technical experience in research engineering and design; Masters Degree and 6 years of relevant experience; PhD and 4 years of relevant experience.

Newport News Shipbuilding requires a Bachelors Degree in engineering from an ABET accredited program.

Nice to Have

1) Experience with A4W and / or A1B pro;ulsion plant engineering or design

2) Experience managing a major update or change to a new contruction CVN or an upgrade to a fleet CVN

3) Experience working with NNL BPMI NAVSEA and Naval Reactors

4) Experience dealing with lifecycle support of major systems or components
