We are seeking a Sitter, also referred to as a Patient Observer or Patient Care Assistant (PCA). The Sitter in our hospital provides continuous one-on-one observation and support to patients who require close monitoring to ensure their safety. Sitters do not perform clinical procedures but play a vital role in patient safety and support, especially for patients with cognitive impairments, delirium, or high fall risk. This position is on a per diem basis, meaning PD / PRN as needed.

Work under the supervision of a RN, the patient sitter maintains constant visual observation of the assigned patient, assists in ensuring a safe and clean environment, communicates patient activity and behavior regularly to the nurse, interacts professionally and respectfully with patients, families, and healthcare team members, and provides support to peers and staff.
