Counselor A (Pretrial Services)

Position Summary

Work under general supervision to assist with bail setting supervision developing implementing and maintaining programming and effective procedures pertaining to justice-involved individuals who are provided services by this agency.

Pay Grade : 45

Salary Commensurate with Experience and Education

Minimum Qualifications

1.Two (2) years' experience working in a criminal justice environment or related field; AND

2. Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in criminal justice, psychology, sociology or closely related field; OR

3. An equivalent combination of related education and / or experience.

4.PROOF OF EDUCATION, TRAINING AND / OR EXPERIENCE IS REQUIRED.

Duties and Responsibilities

1. Acts as a liaison with stakeholders to enhance the work of Pretrial Services.

2. Assists in maintaining all appropriate certifications (Individual and Program related).

3. Assists with gathering and tracking data related to clients and unit performance.

4. Conducts interviews, background investigations and prepares documents pertaining to defendants awaiting bail setting, trial and / or bond review.

5. Conducts office visits and assessments.

6. Conducts case reviews and report findings to appropriate personnel and stakeholders.

7. Facilitates groups / classes, as needed.

8. Organizes and leads team discussions to promote unit and department goals.

9. Provides limited staff supervision and training, as needed.

10. Reviews Line Staff work as needed and manages caseloads to ensure accuracy and appropriate responses.

11. Performs other related duties as required or directed.

2. Ability to make verbal and written presentations related to bail, supervision and compliance.

3. Ability to develop and implement new procedures and protocol, as needed.

4. High level of organizational skills, able to set priorities and monitor details.

5. Ability to maintain a high-performance level while working independently with limited supervision.

6. Strong verbal and written communication skills.

7. Ability to make formal presentations in court.

Special Requirements

1. Must be available for shift weekend and holiday work as required.

2. Must be able to work in a jail secured environment as needed.

3. Must maintain reliable transportation.
