Must-Have :
- Post-operative experience required
- Acute care experience required
- Experience working full-time on a post-operative unit required
- Minimum of one completed travel contract required
Description :
This is a Medical Surgical position that specializes in post-operative gastrointestinal and wound care.
Candidates must have experience managing various patient diagnoses including pancreatitis, gastrointestinal bleeds, bowel obstructions, and post-operative infections.
Experience with special procedures such as pancreatectomy, esophagectomy, and colectomy is essential.
Candidates should be proficient with equipment used in this role, including PEG tubes, PCA pumps, and wound vacs.
This role requires a strong understanding of post-operative care and surgical drains.
Work hours entail addressing patient needs during the night shift.
The candidate should be prepared for potential emergencies, particularly during hurricane season.
Specific expectations regarding emergencies will be communicated upon acceptance of the role.
Candidates should have the ability to manage a patient ratio of 6 : 1 at night.
Interdisciplinary support is available from various health professionals in the unit.
All candidates must supply valid documentation as required by the position.
This is an inpatient unit and may involve floating to other units as necessary.
Attendance on weekends and participation in holiday coverage is expected.
