Job Description

Let’s Connect!

Are you ready to embark on a new career endeavor?

The Doe Fund is a leading New York City non-profit organization that operates the enormously visible Ready, Willing & Able program, whose participants clean over 115 miles of streets and sidewalks every day. With an $80 million budget, 500+ staff members, and 46,000 individual donors, The Doe Fund is nationally acclaimed as a work-based model for solving homelessness and criminal recidivism. We empower people to break the cycles of homelessness, welfare dependency, substance abuse, and incarceration through innovative work and housing programs.

We are seeking a Program Director for The Doe Fund's newest permanent supportive housing program for homeless men and women living with HIV/AIDS. The program is designed to provide long-term residential care and twenty-four-hour support services in a community environment that maximizes residents' independence while ensuring their physical and emotional security and well-being. Forty-one units will be allocated for residents referred by the New York City HIV/AIDS Services Administration (HASA), and twenty-seven apartments will be for adults referred by the New York City Housing Authority (NYCHA).

The Program Director will provide oversight and direction for both staff and residents. The successful candidate will have strong leadership, communication, and entrepreneurial skills along with an understanding of working with the HIV/AIDS population and relevant New York City and State agencies and funding sources.

RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Oversee the day-to-day operations of the program including the maintenance, appearance, and safety of the facility to the highest standards
  • Manage the intake process and ensure the program is operating at full capacity at all time.
  • Recruitment, screening, and selection of direct care staff as well as supervision, support, and conducting regular performance evaluations
  • Provide orientation and ongoing training of direct care staff including but not limited to harm reduction, substance abuse, and mental health
  • Ensure compliance with HASA contract and performance standards
  • Monitor completion of daily records and required reports to ensure they are completed properly and in a timely manner and submitted to the proper individuals and agencies
  • Ensure up to date maintenance of client case files
  • Establish and maintain relationships with other agencies and community organizations
  • Ensure that staff are providing adequate supportive case management services to the residents
  • Facilitate staff meetings, clinical meetings, and resident community meetings
  • Conduct internal audits and quality assurance checks to ensure timely and accurate completion and submission of all required documentation
  • Develop and monitor annual budget for the facility and programmatic activities
  • Provide 24-hour on-call crisis intervention when needed
  • Perform other duties as assigned

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • A Master’s degree in Psychology, Social Work, or a relevant field is preferred. At least a Bachelor’s degree in the aforementioned areas of study/concentration.
  • At least 5 years of experience working with individuals experiencing homelessness, including those diagnosed with substance use and/or mental illness
  • Strong leadership skills, including outstanding organizational and time management skills
  • Demonstrated ability to inspire and motivate staff and residents
  • Lived experience is a plus
  • Excellent clinical and case management skills
  • Sensitivity to community issues and needs
  • Outstanding interpersonal and communication skills, both oral and written
  • Strong ethical standards, confidentiality, and personal integrity
  • Computer proficiency (i.e., email, Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint)
