Job description

🌍 We’re making security suck less for developers.

Security tools haven’t kept up with how software is built today. They interrupt teams, slow releases, and turn security into a bottleneck instead of a capability. We built Aikido to change that. Aikido builds developer-first security products that reduce real risk without getting in the way of shipping software. We focus on what actually matters and automate the rest.

We’re taking on legacy security tools teams have been stuck with, and we’re winning. If you want to help us take market share and build products developers actually enjoy using, you’re in the right place.

Founded in 2022 by third-time founders, Aikido has $85M in the bank, a long runway ahead, and unicorn status. We’re building toward self-securing software. Join an all-star team. Take real ownership. Push boundaries. Build things that matter.

We’re looking for a Developer Advocate who is actively engaged in the developer ecosystem and well-connected across it.

This is a hands-on, community-first role, not a content-only or purely strategic position. You’ll be actively engaging with developers in the real world : showing up at meetups, events, and conversations, building genuine relationships, and helping shape how the developer community experiences and talks about Aikido. We care less about years on a resume and more about strong community instincts, great energy, and an existing presence within the developer ecosystem.

Responsibilities :

Be highly visible in the SF developer community (meetups, hackathons, demo days, conferences, informal events)

Build and maintain relationships with developers, founders, platform engineers, and DevOps / security-minded builders.

Represent Aikido at community events and industry meetups.

Help organize and host : Aikido-led meetups, happy hours, workshops, and small community events.

Actively engage with the developer community online (Twitter / X, Slack, Discord, etc.).

Collaborate with marketing and product to : Support launches, Amplify events, and turn community insights into better messaging.

Help grow Aikido’s reputation as a developer-first security company

Job requirements

Experience in Developer Relations, Developer Advocacy, community leadership, or developer / product marketing

Background at a developer-loved company is a big plus

Already active in the developer ecosystem : attends events regularly, has “some” existing network, and people recognize your name or face.

Bonus : runs or contributes to personal content channels (blog, newsletter, YouTube, podcast, social presence, etc.)

Comfortable talking to developers, technical curiosity matters more than being an expert.

Social, approachable, and genuinely enjoys meeting people

Hungry, proactive, and self-directed.

Based in San Francisco and excited to be in-person and out in the community

What you can expect :

High-impact position in a fast-growing company

Competitive salary package

A company that sticks to its values in an open and informal atmosphere (see our culture page on the website for more details)

A diverse and inclusive organization that is proud to be an equal-opportunity employer

Flexibility in working hours

You will be recruited based on competencies. Qualities of people are decisive, regardless of gender, religion, ethnic origin, age, sexual orientation, or disability.

All done!
