Assistant Professor of Chinese, Tenure Track, Fall 2026

Wilkinson College of Arts Humanities and Social Sciences at Chapman University invites applications for a tenure track assistant professor of Chinese who possesses Native or near-native fluency in Chinese within the Department of World Languages and Cultures effective August 2026.

Responsibilities

• Lead a rigorous research extramural grant-seeking and publication program which could include publishing books and / or articles in peer-reviewed journals depending on the candidates specialty areas.
• Develop innovative upper-division courses in area of expertise and teach lower-division courses in the curriculum.
• Actively participate in departmental college and university service and community-engagement initiatives.
• Tenure-track faculty are expected to develop and maintain an active research agenda for future tenure consideration and are evaluated on their research / scholarly activity teaching and service.
