Overview
As a Physical Designer, you will be working in a project team environment with engineers and other designers involved in high and extra high voltage substation design. Responsibilities will include the preparation of substation and / or telecommunication drawings as listed below.

Substation Lightning Stroke Shielding Plan
Substation Grounding Plan
Substation Conduit, Electrical Connection and Grounding Details
Substation Below Grade Conduit / Raceway Plan
Control Building Equipment, Cable Tray, Lighting, Grounding Plans and Section
Other responsibilities include, but are not limited to :
Develop network architecture designs based on TDM, SONET, IP / MPLS and other relevant standards
Prepare network and channel diagrams and perform timing studies
Design fail safe systems with path & equipment redundancies & diversity to serve mission-critical operations with extreme reliability
Interpreting and incorporating vendor information into design deliverables
Performing walkdowns at client facilities
Applying Client\'s standards related to the work
Mentoring other designers and drafters
This position is based on a hybrid work schedule and will require in-office work 3 days per week
Qualifications
We do not sponsor employees for work authorization in the U.S. for this position.
This position requires a minimum of 5 years of telecommunication and / or substation physical design experience. Qualifications also include the following :
An Associates Degree in Drafting or equivalent technical experience
Advanced knowledge of computer drafting tools (i.e. AutoCAD and / or MicroStation)
Ability to visualize Equipment Details, Phase to Ground and Phase to Phase Clearances
Telecommunications project or systems design experience in radio, fiber optics and / or network engineering
Ability to multi-task from project to project
Ability to visualize parts in 3D without the aid of a computer
Must be bilingual in Spanish and English (speak, read, and write)
Valued Knowledge / Skills :
An Associates Degree in Computer Aided Design
Familiarity with Bentley Substation Design
Knowledge of design techniques, tools, and principles involved in production of technical plans, blueprints, drawings, and models
Knowledge of the practical application of engineering science and technology, including the ability to relate various equipment to a technical design
