WORK ARRANGEMENT : Hybrid. This position will be based on the Stanford campus and will be considered for an option of telecommuting (hybrid of working on-site and off-site), subject to operational need.

JOB PURPOSE :
The Program Manager will support the execution of the Bio-Strategies & Leadership Initiative (BSL) at the Hoover Institution. BSL’s mission is to ensure that the United States and its allies understand biology as a strategic domain and act accordingly. BSL’s products are designed to help leaders envision flourishing, democratic futures. Ongoing work focuses on economic and technical competitiveness as well as national security.
The program conducts and publishes research on biosecurity, biomanufacturing, and future-focused biotechnology applications; educates targeted stakeholders and decision makers on the importance of biology for a secure and prosperous future; and creates opportunities to translate research into actionable policy. This work advances Hoover’s mission to generate ideas that strengthen freedom.
The role involves administering, supporting, and managing BSL programs under the supervision of the Senior Research Program Manager and with guidance from faculty and senior Hoover leadership. Responsibilities include managing and assisting with research activities, events, fellowships, stakeholder engagement (both within and outside the Hoover Institution), and coordination and communication among BSL team members.
The work is fast paced, detail oriented, and highly collaborative. A successful candidate will be driven, self-directed, humble and organized. Flexibility, positivity, and a commitment to delivering excellence even during periods of pressure are essential.
A background in program management is preferred but not required. A strong record of delivery and execution is highly valued. Experience in biology or emerging technologies is a bonus but not necessary. An openness to learning about biology and biotechnology is required.

The expected pay range for this position is $100,023-$124,516 per annum.
