Network Engineer

Title: Network Engineer
Location: Houston, TX
Hire Type: Direct hire
Compensation: 125-150K

• Maintain and administer core networking infrastructure, including firewalls, switches, routers, wireless controllers, and access points.
• Manage and support wide area and local area networks (WAN/LAN) to ensure proper functionality and configuration.
• Maintain and administer VoIP phone systems and related network services.
• Serve as the primary point of contact for vendors and partners regarding network-related products, services, and issues.
• Perform periodic network inventory reviews and configuration audits.
• Lead IT projects from planning through completion.
• Schedule and coordinate network hardware maintenance windows with support personnel.
• Provide remote support and participate in an on-call rotation as required.
• Develop, maintain, and implement processes, policies, and procedures related to network services and equipment.
• Research, test, and evaluate new and emerging network technologies; provide recommendations to the Operations Manager.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or Engineering required.
• An additional four (4) years of highly relevant full-time experience (14 years total) may be considered in lieu of a four-year degree.

• Minimum of ten (10) years of full-time, relevant experience in network design and support, including LAN, WAN, and wireless environments.
• Required experience includes:
  • Design and support of VoIP systems and/or QoS/CoS
  • Network protocols (BGP, MPLS, VPN, OSPF, TCP/IP, STP)
  • Authentication and authorization technologies (802.1x, NAC, Aruba ClearPass, Cisco ISE, or equivalent) and ACLs
  • VPN technologies (site-to-site, IPsec, always-on VPN clients)
  • Hands-on experience with switches, routers, and firewalls
  • Working with service provider–supported environments
  • Strong technical documentation skills
  • Professional communication with internal departments and stakeholders

• Experience working in a highly regulated industry
• Familiarity with Fortinet, Aruba OS, and Aruba OS-CX
• Relevant certifications (Cisco, Aruba, or similar)
