As a Lead Application Engineer, you'll not only design and deliver enterprise applications with AI at the core—you'll also guide a team of developers to deliver at speed and quality. You'll set the technical direction, coach teammates, and ensure projects land on time while leveraging Appian's AI features—document processing, natural language search, and generative assistance—to transform how Appian runs its business.

This role is based at our ​headquarters in ​McLean, Virginia. Appian was built on a culture of in-person collaboration, which we believe is a key driver of our mission to be the best. Employees hired for this position are expected to be in the office 5 days a week to foster that culture and ensure we continue to thrive through shared ideas and teamwork. What you'll do

• Lead a team of developers, ensuring fast, high-quality delivery of business-critical applications
• Build and deploy applications using Appian's platform and AI features to simplify and automate workflows
• Integrate systems across the business through web APIs
• Partner with stakeholders to reimagine processes and deliver insights with AI-powered search, summarization, and recommendations
• Establish and enforce development best practices to scale Appian and AI adoption
• Support, maintain, and continuously improve business applications in production
