ROLE of the POSITION
Student Counseling & Psychological Services (CAPS) is an IACS-Accredited center within the Student Wellness unit, which includes the departments of health center, Care center, wellness education and health promotion, disability resource center, military and veteran services, and the office of student rights and responsibilities. This Staff Counselor / Senior Staff Counselor role offers a unique opportunity to thrive in a dynamic, integrated service model dedicated to serving a diverse student population. This is a full-time, 12-month position.
General responsibilities for this position include, but are not limited to, time-effective individual, couples, and group therapy; crisis assessment and intervention; consultation, and outreach programming to the university community; supervision of trainees (e.g. doctoral interns, graduate trainees, & psychiatric residents); and participation on unit, divisional, and university committees.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Staff Counselor : This position requires a M aster’s degree in Counseling or Clinical Psychology, Social Work, Couple and Family Therapy or closely related field from a regionally accredited college or university and one year of related professional experience. Demonstrated experience and training in generalist counseling is required. Licensure for independent practice as a generalist (e.g. LCSW, LPCP, LMFT) is required and Nevada licensure for independent practice is required prior to the start of employment.
Senior Staff Counselor : This position requires all minimum qualifications of the Staff Counselor and 5 years of licensed, independent related clinical work experience.
Successful candidates will have strong clinical assessment and crisis intervention skills, demonstrated skills in supervision and training, and experience in brief therapy and group counseling. Experience and competency in working with culturally diverse populations and demonstrated commitment to equity, diversity, and inclusion. A desire to work in a collaborative setting and excellent verbal and written communication skills are required. The current vacancy is for a generalist; however professional experience working in a university counseling center and / or experience with the treatment of eating disorders is preferred. All candidates must pass a background screening. Occasional evening / weekend activities required.
