Basic Function
Develops plans, executes evaluations, and compiles easy-to-understand results of transit ridership / service evaluation by analyzing large amounts of data to prepare recurring reports, respond to inquiries, measure the effectiveness of METRO’s services, and actively and independently investigate and problem-solve data collection or operational challenges. Performs duties in a safe, efficient manner and in compliance with all applicable rules and safety procedures.
Responsibilities and Specific Duties
- Independently monitors daily and monthly ridership data to : Create / update reports on an ongoing and recurring basis. Troubleshoot and / or investigate results for anomalous, missing, or irregular data. Prepare analysis based on a single or multiple varying factors. Respond to internal and external requests for information in a timely fashion. Ensure analysis is well organized, clear, and succinct, and Provide tables, charts, and summaries.
- Synthesizes ridership and operational data with other datasets (which may represent influencing factors, such as census or economic data, or fare changes).
- Prepares narrative reports on ridership trends and / or forecasts, service productivity, fare or service change impacts, or other similar / related topics.
- Participates and / or tracks data collection activities (involving fieldwork assignments).
- Regularly rides a variety of METRO bus and train services to verify ridership issues and / or trends.
- Prepares annual required submissions for federal reporting, including the creation of data tables, written methodology and variance documentation.
- Assists other department staff and managers as needed on similar and related projects.
- Provide excellent customer service to METRO internal and external customers.
- Promotes safety awareness and follows safety procedures in efforts to reduce or eliminate accidents.
- Performs other job-related duties as assigned.
Education Requirement
High school diploma or GED is required. Bachelor’s degree in Public Administration, Business Administration or a related degree is preferred.
Years & Experience Required
Minimum two (2) years’ experience in an evaluation or analysis environment.
Knowledge & Skills Required
Very strong analytical skills. Excellent Microsoft Excel skills, and the ability to manage large datasets accurately. Attention to detail, good organizational and time management skills. Ability to work efficiently with minimal supervision. Familiarity with Microsoft Access, statistical software (e.g., SPSS), GIS (e.g., ArcMap) is preferred.
