Engineering Quality Manager

We're looking for an Engineering Quality Manager responsible for leading the implementation and management of the Quality Management System (QMS) across multiple projects, ensuring compliance with company standards, procedures, contractual requirements, and industry regulations. This role involves planning and performing quality audits and assessments, managing quality teams, providing consultation to project teams, identifying opportunities for improvement, and promoting a culture of quality throughout the organization. This position encompasses roles equivalent to Quality Manager levels 1 and 2, with increasing levels of responsibility, expectations, and expertise.

Our staff leads and collaborates with Kiewit's module fabrication and construction teams to approach construction-driven engineering with a focus on safe, cost effective, and innovative designs that achieve client expectations and further Kiewit's legacy of excellence.

This position can be based at out of either our Energy Corridor or Lenexa offices. Opportunities for flexible are available.

Responsibilities

Lead the implementation of the Quality Management System (QMS) on projects, ensuring alignment with ISO 9000/9001 and company standards.

Develop and maintain Project Quality Plans, address compliance gaps, and drive adoption of QMS practices.

Conduct project quality audits and assessments, lead multi-assessor audits, and implement quality assurance processes.

Identify non-conformance trends, execute corrective actions, and foster continuous improvement.

Build, manage, and mentor quality teams, setting clear expectations and providing feedback.

Ensure proactive risk identification and mitigation on projects, develop risk strategies, and escalate concerns to leadership when needed.

Align quality initiatives with business objectives, drive strategic improvements, and contribute to overall organizational goals.

Oversee project and district-level documentation, analyze data to identify trends, and ensure accurate corporate reporting.

Engage clients and external partners, representing the company on quality matters, and foster relationships to achieve objectives.

Communicate persuasively across organizational levels, collaborate to implement quality initiatives, and promote continuous improvement.

Anticipate and mediate conflicts, working to find common ground and resolve high-risk issues.

Exhibit strong problem-solving skills, address complex issues, and lead innovative solutions.

Prioritize tasks, manage project quality activities, and handle complex workloads efficiently.

Maintain relevant certifications, engage in professional growth, and advise on industry standards and codes.

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Science, or a related technical field.

10+ years of project quality experience.

Strong engineering or technical background related to assigned responsibilities.

Effective communication skills, both written and verbal.

Ability to build relationships and collaborate across organizational levels.

Strong attention to detail and problem-solving abilities.

Excellent organizational and time management skills.

Understanding of ISO Standards.

Strategic thinking and initiative to drive improvements and align with business objectives.

Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).

Proficient in Microsoft PowerBI.

Experience with quality management software and database applications.

Familiarity with data analysis tools and technologies supporting quality functions.

Relevant quality certifications preferred: ASQ Certified Quality Auditor, ASQ Certified Manager of Quality and Organizational Excellence, Six Sigma Green Belt, etc.

Regular, reliable attendance.

Perform work safely and effectively. Understand and follow oral and written instructions, including warning signs, equipment use, and other policies.
