Local Courier - Senior
Local courier work at the senior performance level includes ensuring safe and secure transport and delivery of documents and / or materials, to include high profile deliveries and rotational "on-call" support. Materials may be small enough to hand-carry or large enough that a handcart is required. Transport may occur in vehicles ranging in size from a sedan to a box truck but no special licensing is required. Some travel may be required outside the WMA but inside CONUS, as well as other miscellaneous job-related duties.
Duties / Tasks and Responsibilities
Transport and deliver material in the most expeditious, secure and safe manner possible
- Organize run to ensure efficient and timely transport and delivery of material
- Assess alternative route options
- Adapt to ad-hoc customer requests in transit and modify route as necessary
- Properly label all material
- Distribute material, collect authorized signatures for the addresses upon delivery
- Store special handling packages in accordance with safety and regulatory procedures
- Coordinate with their sponsor supervisor and fellow couriers to balance the workload
- Communicate with Dispatch and other couriers regarding status of deliveries and any changes to routes
- Provides guidance to less experienced couriers regarding route preparations
- Perform duties at the Mail Inspection Facility (MIF) and adhere to all standard operating procedures which include : retrieving Sponsor mail from the USPS and delivering to the MIF; sorting the mail before and after the required security processes; and delivery of cleared mail to the main Sponsor mail room. Please note that contractor personnel may be subject to quarantine in place at any time during the process if Sponsor's Security office deems it necessary for containment purposes.

Enter timely and accurate data into appropriate tracking databases
Complete required scanning and receipts for property documentation in the document control system.Update lists of cleared customers authorized to receive classified materialMaintain professional interactions with customers, internal and external contacts

Respond to all requests while "on call"; courier will be assigned a cell phone during this time. While "on call" courier must return calls from customer within one hour.Perform other related duties as assigned.

Work is primarily performed driving customer vehicle to and from Sponsor and customer sites as well as within a mailroom / office environment at a Sponsor facility. Typically, contractors will be driving, walking, bending, and carrying items for extensive periods. Basic computer skills are required to accomplish work objectives.

Minimum Qualifications
Experience :
Two (2) or more years of experience as a courier.Clean driving record, defined as :Negative point accumulation is not to exceed minus four (-4) points.Zero (0) driving suspensions or revocations.Zero (0) incidents of serious motor vehicle violation, including, but not limited, to driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs; reckless driving; leaving the scene of an accident, or a series of convictions that reflect a pattern of unsafe behavior.Has not been assigned to any alcohol safety action program or driver alcohol rehabilitation program.Has not been assigned to any driver improvement programs.Education :
High school diploma or GED equivalent
Special Certifications :
