Bakery Cake Decorator

Buck Russell’s Bakery is seeking a skilled Cake Decorator to join our team, demonstrating both baking expertise and a commitment to high standards of hospitality.

Concept Overview : Buck Russell’s Bakery & Sandwich Shop is the hospitality group’s third concept on the North Shore. Wilmette's one-stop-shop for lunch, sweet treat or a fun space to celebrate and create life lasting memories. We operate with a small, dedicated crew passionate about baking high-quality treats and are committed to fostering a professional environment conducive to team member growth and learning. We require a like-minded individual who possesses a strong attention to detail and is eager to contribute to a positive and enthusiastic kitchen setting.

Job Summary : The Cake Decorating role is centered on the production of creative pastry cakes, as well as providing assistance with wholesale baking operations. A qualified candidate is required to submit a professional portfolio (including photographs of prior baking and decorating work).

Essential Duties and Responsibilities :

• Follows recipes and SOP’ when decorating and baking
• Filling and decorating cupcakes
• Flat frosting and decorating cakes
• Cake Royal icing
• Ability to be creative with custom cake orders
• Assist with fulfilling all cake and pastry orders

Job Related Skills and Qualifications :

• Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail
• Knowing the proper techniques of baking and decorating pastries
• Ability to remain calm during high volume service or difficult situations
• Excellent baking and creative skills
• Ability to work varied shifts, including nights, weekends and holidays
• Ability so stand for extended period of time
• Ability to lift up to 50lbs
• High school diploma or equivalent work experience.
• A minimum of 2 year of culinary experience in baking environment
• Prior experience working in customer service preferred
• Maintain a ServeSafe Food Handlers certification.
