job_description.job_card.job_descriptionPosition located in an acute care hospital on a 32-bed Med / Surg unit with ortho, surgical, and oncology patients Typical patient ratios are 1 : 4 for both days and nights Night shift position with 12-hour shifts (7-7) and a requirement to work 4 weekend shifts per 4-week period Unit primarily serves surgical (80%) and oncology (20%) cases, with frequent elective knee and hip surgeries Use of Cerner EMR and GE Monitors for telemetry; central monitoring tech present No ventilators on the unit Required to float to MedSurg Tele units B2C and B2D, and may float to a sister facility Charge nurse and unit supervisor provide support; PCTs on days, PCT or Task RN at night Spectralink phones used for call light integration Main responsibilities include providing Med / Surg and tele care, especially for orthopedic and surgical patients Responsible for titrating Cardizem and Amiodarone down as required Call physician for guidance as there is no hospitalist or intensivist routinely on the unit IV team not available; House SWAT nurse available for difficult IVs RT and pharmacy support are available 24 / 7 Navy scrubs required as the standard dress code On orientation, expect 12 hours total with 2 shifts specific to the floor Holiday coverage for one major and one minor holiday is required Must not be a former direct employee (FT / PT / PRN) of affiliated health systems within the last year Not open to local candidates residing within 50 miles of the facility Active AZ or compact RN license required and must be current at the time of consideration Current BLS and ACLS certifications required Minimum of 2 years recent Med / Surg experience within the past 6 months is essential Previous experience with telemetry and the ability to read strips is required Must be able to titrate down Amiodarone and Cardizem due to floating to tele units Experience with Cerner EMR is preferred Must reside more than 50 miles from the facility (verified by current driver's license) Driver's license must be provided for consideration Must pass a dysrhythmia exam and a pass / fail Sim Lab on day one of orientation (two attempts allowed for each) Failure of either exam results in a 6-month DNU for the region Submission must include professional references : one supervisor from past 12 months, one peer or supervisor from past 3 years High Pay and Bonuses Medical, Dental and Vision Insurance with Day 1 Options 401(k) Plan Weekly Payroll Deposit Free Online CEUs Generous Housing Allowance Travel and Licensure Reimbursements Non-taxed Per Diem and Subsidy Traveler Rewards and Discounts
