Nurse Practitioner (NP)

The Nurse Practitioner coordinates decision-making with the psychiatrist in assessing, diagnosing, and managing psychiatric patients.

The Nurse Practitioner collaborates with a multi-disciplinary team to perform clinical assessments and develop treatment plans. The team includes psychiatrists, registered nurses, licensed practical nurses, mental health technicians, social workers, therapists, and educators. Be able to establish empathy and a person-centered approach to patients. Have the ability to recognize your limitations and respond to challenging situations. Skillfully work in a self-motivated and independent manner. Have excellent communication and interpersonal skills to interact with team members and clients.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES

1. Completes follow-up visits after the initial assessment is completed
2. Participates in staffing weekly and family sessions as needed
3. Prescribes pharmacologic interventions as necessary
4. Review all applicable laboratory and diagnostic test results
5. Consult with the attending psychiatrist when necessary
6. Makes referrals for further diagnostic psychological or medical testing as needed
7. As appropriate, communicate with patients, patient's families, and others to obtain personal and social information pertinent to the patient's treatment
8. Prepares documentation following Ridgeview Institutes policies and all regulatory and accrediting bodies
9. Works in collaboration with a multi-disciplinary team to perform clinical assessments
10. Be able to establish empathy and a person-centered approach to patients
11. Have the ability to recognize your limitations and respond to challenging situations
12. Skillfully work in a self-motivated and independent manner
13. Have excellent communication and interpersonal skills to interact with team members and clients.

Your Experience Matters What we're looking for:

Education: Completion of a Master's Program (Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner) from an accredited school of nursing

Experience: Minimum of three (3) years of clinical experience in a psychiatric setting

Licensure: Current licensure as a Registered Nurse and Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner in Georgia. Current certification as a Nurse Practitioner (ANCC Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner), comprehensive Liability Insurance, current DEA License, current CPR/First Aid certification, and CPI Training certification.
