We are currently hiring a Patient Care Technician for the Emergency Department at UPMC St. Margaret Hospital. This role involves rotating 12-hour shifts, including every other weekend, and participation in the holiday rotation. While prior experience in EMS or Emergency Department settings is preferred, it is not required; training will be provided to support your success in this fast-paced, team-oriented environment.
The salary listed on the position is that of a Patient Care Technician, which is a valued step in UPMC Patient Care Support Career Ladder. The final candidate will be placed in the appropriate title and salary based on experience and education.
Responsibilities:
• High school diploma or GED.
• Must also have either
a) 1 Year of general healthcare experience, OR
b) 6 months of experience as UPMC Nursing Assistant/CNA with PCT competency achieved within days of hire/transfer/promotion for those with less than 1 year of experience, OR
c) enrollment in PT/OT/PA program or related healthcare training program with completion of at least one clinical rotation, OR
d) completion of a bachelor's degree in a health sciences field.
• Successful completion of UPMC patient care technician class
• Successful completion of eRecord training.
• Emergency Medical Technician (EMT)or Paramedic or currently enrolled in an EMT or Paramedic program preferred.
Licensure, Certifications, and Clearances:
CPR required based on AHA standards that include both a didactic and skills demonstration component within 30 days of hire ACLS preferred
