Looking for a fun hospitalist nocturnist job at a great community hospital? You have found the right place! We have a job opening for a full-time nurse practitioner in our night nocturnist program!
- The shifts start at 7pm and end at 7am.
- Rotation is 1 week on and 2 weeks off – rotating schedule with an MD and another NP.
- The hospital is a moderate size community hospital with strong subspecialty support.
- Census and admission numbers vary month to month and year to year. Historically, 3-7 admits per night is a norm.
- Supported by great daytime hospitalists who help assist in difficult decisions at night.
- Support of CRNAs for airway assistance and the emergency department physicians for IV access concerns overnight.
- Must have some experience with ICU level of care patients, but most patients are PCU or med surg level of care.
- Tele-ICU physician coverage is available 24 / 7, a great service that helps assist in taking care of our sickest patients.

JOB SUMMARY :
Works to provide acute care services as a member of the Hancock Regional Hospital Hospitalist team to provide care to patients in the acute care setting within the scope of practice of a nurse practitioner.Manages acute and chronic medical conditions, documents patient history and physical exams, and coordinates care throughout the patient’s episode of acute care.Performs procedures for which he / she is privileged to do and documents assessments, evaluates and performs consultation reports for Hancock Regional Hospital’s Hospitalist Service.Admits hospitalist service patients, performs consultations for the hospitalist service, rounds and discharges patients admitted to the service. Duties may also involve carrying out consultations for collaborative management of other services when necessary.Documents careful and thorough notes including admission H&Ps, Progress Notes, Discharge Summaries, and Consultation NotesESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES :
Assist teammates with admissions, rounding, and discharges from the hospitalist service.Assesses patient status by obtaining health history through patient / family interviews and chart reviews; assessing presenting illness, risk factors, family history, psychosocial situation and performing appropriate physical exam.Develops thorough & pertinent problem lists and manages patient care based on these problem listsDocuments according to the high standards set within the hospitalist team / programCommunicates with other team members using our secure mobile communication platformPossesses a strong focus on clinical excellence, evidence-based care, and patient satisfaction.Exemplifies exceptional interpersonal communication and documentation skills.Attends and participates in meetings and conferences that enhance an interdisciplinary approach to acute care delivery including all schedule hospitalist team meetings.Serves on quality improvement teams or hospital committeesWorks along with the team and Hospitalist Medical Director to identify quality improvement issues with respect to patient care to develop evidence-based quality improvementOrders appropriate laboratory diagnostic and other screening tests. Seeks other information as needed, including consultation and coordination with physicians and clinicians for evaluation of care.Follows up with obtaining lab and diagnostic results and notifying collaborative physician of any significant results.Discusses code status with patient and identifies family members who can provide additional information to the care team if necessaryWorks collaboratively with physicians, and other healthcare providers to optimize patient care.EXPECTED BEHAVIORS :

CPR (Cardio-Pulmonary Resuscitation)
ADDITIONAL LICENSURE / CREDENTIAL REQUIREMENTS :
Graduate of an accredited school of nursing (if NP) is required.Current Registered Nurse license (if NP) with the state of Indiana.Basic Life Support (BLS) and ACLSOther certifications as required by assigned area of work (i.e., ACLS, PALS).ADDITIONAL EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS :
Demonstrated competence in area of clinical specialization.Familiarity with common surgical and inpatient procedures and aftercare with stronginternal medicine background preferred.
Ability to access, review, and synthesize clinical information from multiple sources tomake clinical decisions that optimizes patients prior to surgery.
Ability to explain multiple medical conditions to patients and their families.Mandatory Continuing Education : Customer Service, Fire and Safety, CorporateCompliance (including Confidentiality), Infection Control, and Education required by
regulatory, accreditation bodies, scope of practice, and / or Hancock Regional Hospital.
