Job Title : Accounting Manager - Restaurant / Retail Operations
Location : Camden, New Jersey
Salary Range : $115,000 - $130,000 annually
Reports To : Director of Finance / General Manager
Position Summary
The Accounting Manager is responsible for overseeing all financial operations for restaurant or retail operations, ensuring accurate reporting, compliance with regulations, and effective cost control. This role is critical for maintaining profitability and supporting strategic decision-making through financial analysis and reporting.
Key Responsibilities
Financial Management & Reporting
- Prepare and review monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements.
- Analyze revenue, food and beverage costs, labor expenses, and operational performance.
- Provide financial insights and recommendations to management for improving profitability.
Budgeting & Forecasting
Develop annual budgets and monitor actual performance against targets.Forecast revenue and expenses based on historical trends and seasonal patterns.Accounts Payable & Receivable
Oversee vendor payments and maintain strong supplier relationships.Manage customer billing for catering, events, and large orders.Cash Flow & Reconciliation
Reconcile daily POS sales reports with bank deposits.Monitor cash handling procedures and ensure compliance with internal controls.Inventory & Cost Control
Track inventory levels and reconcile with purchases and usage.Calculate and monitor Cost of Goods Sold (COGS) to maintain profitability.Technology & Systems
Manage integration between POS systems and accounting software.Ensure accurate data flow for sales, inventory, and labor tracking.Team Leadership
Supervise and train accounting staff or bookkeepers.Foster a culture of accuracy, accountability, and continuous improvement.Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field (CPA preferred).5-7 years of accounting experience in retail or restaurant operations.2-3 years of leadership experience managing accounting teams.Strong knowledge of GAAP and tax regulations.Advanced Excel skills and ability to analyze large data sets.Experience with POS systems and accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks, Sage).Compensation & Benefits
