About The Position

• Experience with 1 : 3 patient ratios preferred
• Ability to float to Med / Surg and Tele, with potential to float to ER

Description :

This position is for a Registered Nurse in the Observation Unit.

The unit has 8 rooms and 16 beds.

The nurse-patient ratio is 1 : 4, with a preference for candidates experienced with a 1 : 3 ratio.

Telemetery experience is a hard requirement.

The ideal candidate will be able to float to the Med / Surg and Tele units as needed.

Every other weekend coverage is typically required.

Self-scheduling will be done in coordination with the manager.

Experience in travel nursing is preferred but not mandatory; first-time travelers will be screened based on their relevant experience.

Navy scrubs are not provided.

Documentation is done using Meditech, and the Omnicell med system is employed for medication management.

Support services include interpretation, lift teams, pharmacy, phlebotomy, physical therapy, radiology, and rapid response teams.

The unit receives coverage from Intensivists, Nurse Practitioners, and Hospitalists.

Required skills include telemetry, cardiac telemetry, management of dysrhythmias, insulin drip titration, feeding tube care, renal failure management, and tracheostomy care.

Preferred skills would include arterial line management, central line care, phlebotomy, and chest tube management.

The unit supports a diverse patient demographic, including adolescents, adults, and geriatrics.

Weekend shifts will be required, typically every other weekend.

Travelers residing within 50 miles are not accepted.

Candidates with license hits will be reviewed on a case-by-case basis.

Certifications are required at the time of submission.

References from previous supervisors are preferred.
