The USF Health Libraries are searching for current USF students to be student library assistants! Wed like to start our newest employees in 2026 before the semester begins.
With appropriate funding this position can be extended while you meet the qualifications for student employment. Summer enrollment is required except for students in the US on a F-1 visa.
- Average Number of Hours per Week : 12-20 based on student schedule
- Hourly Rate : $15.00 / hour
- Schedule : Flexible you can work around your class schedule; our greatest need is coverage for evenings and weekends. We prefer enough flexibility to fill in for staff absences. The Shimberg Library will be flexible with scheduling within guidelines set by our hours of operation and our student employees schedules.

In this position
You will provide patron assistance at the library services desk in the Shimberg Health Sciences Library including :
General informational assistance; patron assistance in using online library resources such as the catalog and databasesCheck-out and check-in of books reserve materials laptops equipment and suppliesGroup study room reservation approval and checkoutOccasional assistance with printing copying scanning and use of the computer labProviding patron support by phone email and Microsoft Teams.You will be scanning and sending journal articles and book chapters for interlibrary loan and document delivery services.You will be shelving books and journals and ensuring shelved materials are in good order.Youre needed for Shimberg Library opening and closing.Youll make security rounds and assist with library-wide and librarian-directed projects as needed.You will provide directional assistance to members of the USF community and the public who are visiting to apply for a US passport.Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications : Must be a current USF student. Good customer service skills and attention to detail are essential.
Preferred Qualifications : Familiarity with Microsoft Office products and some library experience. Holders of a current Florida drivers license are preferred.
