About the Role
The scale house operator is responsible for helping to maintain the day-to-day operation and administrative duties associated with operation of the scale. This position requires a detail-oriented person able to maintain focus in a fast-paced processing plant. This position reports to the Business Operations Manager.
- Work hours are Monday – Friday 8 a.m. – 4 : 30 p.m.
- May need to work from 6 : 00 a.m. – 2 : 00 p.m. on occasion.

Operate scale house computers to obtain weight information for incoming recycle haulers and outbound shipments.Compare scale tickets and bills of lading to verify accuracy of shipment contents and weightsOperates traffic control devices to allow vehicles to proceed to tipping area and exit from facilityIssues receipts to vehicle driver and collects ticketsMaintain accurate overall record keeping for reporting and analysisUse of radio communications with worksite operatorsCommunicating with haulers and truck driversCommunicating with Supervisors and Peers, providing information to supervisors and co-workers by telephone, written form, and email and in person.Performing day to day administrative tasks such as maintaining information files and processing paperwork.Maintain, monitor, and clean work areas, counters, windows and area around scale officeFollows company safety policies and procedures to prevent injuries and accidentsMinimum Job Qualifications
HS diploma or equivalentMicrosoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel)Able to function under minimal supervision.Preferred Job Qualifications
Bilingual (English / Spanish) a plusUse computers to enter data and process informationDetail oriented in obtaining, documenting and recording information from all relevant sourcesAbility to work well under pressure and in a fast paced environmentAbility to work well in a noisy environmentOrganized and punctualA positive attitude is essentialInteract with truck drivers, haulers, vendors, customers in a friendly and professional mannerOther Duties
