Position Overview
We are seeking a skilled Service Technician to perform maintenance, diagnostics, and repairs on a wide range of heavy construction and specialty equipment. This position is primarily shop-based, with occasional field service as needed. The ideal candidate brings strong troubleshooting abilities, particularly in hydraulic systems, electrical systems, and powertrain diagnostics, and is comfortable working on complex equipment in a fast-paced environment.
Key Responsibilities
• Assemble and disassemble major components on heavy construction and specialty equipment, including hydraulic cylinders, hoses, pumps, motors, valves, and controls
• Diagnose and repair mechanical, hydraulic, and electrical systems, including CAN-bus and electronic controls
• Perform repairs and preventive maintenance on heavy equipment within established timelines
• Service diesel engines, powertrains, undercarriage components, transmissions, torque converters, final drives, braking systems, and structural components
• Machine and fabricate steel components using hand tools and power-driven equipment
• Assemble and disassemble equipment for inspections, repairs, rebuilds, and maintenance
• Complete detailed service reports, parts lookups, and parts order requisitions
• Perform check-in / check-out inspections and quality control documentation on rental and fleet equipment
• Operate forklifts, overhead cranes, power tools, welding and cutting equipment, and hydraulic torque tools
• Operate heavy construction equipment safely, including in confined or tight work areas
• Perform repairs and maintenance at jobsite locations when required
Preferred Experience & Qualifications
• Experience working on heavy construction equipment such as earthmoving, foundation, utility, crane, mining, or specialty equipment
• Strong troubleshooting and diagnostic skills across hydraulic, electrical, and mechanical systems
• Experience with electronic controls, CAN-bus systems, and diagnostic software is highly desirable
• Solid understanding of diesel engines and powertrain systems
• Ability to interpret service manuals, schematics, and wiring diagrams
• Strong safety awareness and attention to detail
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a shop environment
