Public Works Infrastructure Specialist

Under direction, is responsible for investigating, recording, and / or responding for maintenance, repair or televising of the City public infrastructure and makes preliminary determination of the type of work required. Working conditions are primarily outside and in underground drainage systems with confined spaces. Outdoor environment with frequent exposure to temperature extremes, traffic construction dust, damp / wet surfaces, overhead power lines, animal / insect bites, high noise, oily surfaces, liquid asphalt and lime. Exercises no supervision.

Work Location : Northwest Service Center - 6939 W Loop 1604 N, Bldg. 1, San Antonio, TX 78254

Work Hours : 6 : 15 a.m. - 5 : 00 p.m., Monday - Thursday

Essential Job Functions

• Conducts site visits to assess requests.
• Respond to situations where maintenance or repair of public infrastructures may need to be performed, frequently lifting and carrying equipment weighing 25 pounds.
• Determines ownership and responsibility for areas in need of maintenance or repair.
• Determines type of maintenance or repair to be completed.
• Ensures compliance with safety and equipment standards, standard operating procedures and service level agreements.
• Coordinates with appropriate personnel for maintenance and repairs.
• Plans, coordinates, and controls work zone traffic.
• Prepares reports and maintains necessary records of work scheduled and performed.
• May have to perform minor maintenance and repairs when applicable.
• Performs related duties and fulfills responsibilities as required.
