Description

Position : Project Accountant

Department : Finance

Location : Fishers, IN

Responsibilities :

  • Communicate effectively with Project Managers and Subconsultants regarding contract documents, change orders, project modifications, approvals, and billing-related services
  • Open new projects, proposals, and clients in the enterprise software system
  • Review contracts for financial terms and ensure accurate representation in project setup documentation; notify Project Managers of any discrepancies
  • Process draft invoices and related documentation through the electronic billing system
  • Prepare and finalize invoices for billable projects, including all required backup documentation
  • Upload final invoices to client billing portals as needed
  • Review consultant invoices and coordinate approvals with Project Managers
  • Maintain organized electronic filing and archiving of project-specific documents including contracts, proposals, budget changes, and project setup forms
  • Ensure timely communication to resolve open items and maintain project clarity
  • Obtain appropriate approvals in accordance with company policies
  • Research and reconcile project-related financial issues; identify and resolve variances
  • Provide ongoing support to Project Managers and coordinate with local offices
  • Perform other duties as assigned

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in accounting, Finance, or related field
  • 3+ years of experience in project accounting, preferably in AEC or professional services
  • Proficiency in accounting software (e.g., Deltek / Vantagepoint, BST, EleVia or similar ERP systems)
  • Strong Excel skills and analytical mindset
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines
