Degree in American Sign Language (ASL) Interpreting, certified ASL Interpreter credentials, and 1+ year of experience as an ASL Interpreter in educational settings. Applicants who do not meet these qualifications will not be considered.
A K-12 educational institution in Norfolk, VA is seeking a skilled professional to provide American Sign Language (ASL) services for the full semester under a contract arrangement. This role is ideal for individuals experienced in supporting students through sign language interpretation and instruction within a school setting.
Key Responsibilities :
- Facilitate effective munication by interpreting American Sign Language during classroom lessons and school activities.
- Deliver ASL instruction to students across various grade levels to enhance their language skills and participation.
- Collaborate with teachers, counselors, and support staff to develop accessible learning experiences for deaf or hard-of-hearing students.
- Monitor student progress and adapt interpreting or teaching techniques as necessary to meet varied educational needs.
- Maintain confidentiality and promote an inclusive environment that fosters student growth and engagement.
Desired Qualifications and Experience :
