Job Description
To maintain the University fleet of vehicles and equipment, in good mechanical and safe operating condition by performing preventive maintenance and necessary mechanical repairs. Position is designated “essential personnel” for emergency closings. Type of Recruitment Knowledge, skills and abilities Working knowledge of motor vehicle engine operation and repair principles. Considerable skill in the use of hand and power tools and diagnostic test equipment in the maintenance and repair of equipment. Demonstrated ability to read and comprehend technical repair manuals; to perform simple arithmetic calculations and to read gauges and testing devices. Demonstrated analytical ability to diagnose problems and produce solutions to make necessary repairs; to perform routine repairs within industry standards. Special licenses, registration or certification Valid driver’s license and insurable driving record. Currently possess or must obtain a State Inspection License and at least one (1) ASE certification within 90 days of hire. Education or training Some training in automotive repair. Level and type of experience Some experience in the general repair of gasoline and / or diesel engines and automotive related mechanical and electrical / electronic systems as a technician. Additional Considerations (supplemental knowledge, skills, abilities, education, experience, licensure, certification) Currently possess or be able to obtain Commercial Driver’s License with P and M endorsements within 1 year of hire. Conditions of Employment Facilities Management employees are considered essential personnel and subject to working during university closings.
