Certifications : BLS, Intermediate Fetal Monitoring (Preferred : ACLS, NRP, STABLE)

Must-Have :

• Ability to read and interpret fetal strips
• Critical thinking skills
• Previous travel experience
• Ability to titrate drips

Description :

This position involves working in a Labor and Delivery setting focused on obstetric and neonate care.

The unit has a total of 15 beds, including 7 for Labor & Delivery and 8 for Postpartum.

One operating room is available for C-Sections.

An average of 58 births occur per month.

Nurse-patient ratios follow AWHONN guidelines, with 1 : 1 for certain drips and 1 : 3 for couplet care.

Common diagnoses include hypertension and gestational diabetes mellitus, with a preference for patients 36 weeks or older.

RNs are required to read their own fetal strips and understand critical quality metrics.

Staff will float to various departments as necessary, including MedSurg and ER.

Charge nurses are present on each shift and do take an assignment.

There are support staff available to assist with patient care and clerical duties.

Remote technical equipment, such as vents and bi-pap, is available, but RNs are not required to manage them beyond troubleshooting.

The EMR system in use is Meditech.

Block scheduling is allowed, but self-scheduling is not available.

Weekend and holiday shifts will be assigned every other period.

All scrubs will be provided in a designated color and must be changed upon arrival on the unit.
