Nature of Work: This position typically reports to a Manager, Fiscal & Business Administration, Safety Compliance Manager or other appropriate supervisor of a department or clinic with responsibility for insurance claims. To be successful in this non-exempt position, the Insurance Specialist must have knowledge of insurance related processes and terminology, release of records law, and data management and tracking computer systems, as well as applicable confidentiality and HIPAA laws, and university/departmental policies and procedures. This position requires good written and oral communication skills in order to effectively interact with insured individuals, claimants, medical and other service providers, insurance company representative
