Portland Community College is accepting applications to be considered for Part-Time Faculty assignments in Physical Education and Dance. The Department will review applications in this pool as the need arises for new part-time faculty in this area.

This is NOT an announcement of a specific open position, but a Part-time Faculty Interest Pool, from which the department will identify applicants based on course assignment needs during the Academic Year. Your application may be considered for substitute assignments as well as full term class assignments.

Preferred Qualifications :

At least three years of Higher Education Teaching experience

Willing to teach and substitute across the district on all four PCC campuses

Instructor Qualifications :

Master’s degree in Physical Education, Exercise Science, Exercise Physiology, Sports Psychology, Sports Fitness, Human Performance, Kinesiology, Outdoor Recreation Leadership, Human Physiology, or Dance plus three (3) years teaching experience at the college / high school levels.

OR

Master’s degree in any field, plus a Bachelor’s degree in Physical Education, Exercise Science, Exercise Physiology, Sports Psychology, Sports Fitness, Human Performance, Kinesiology, Outdoor Recreation Leadership, Human Physiology, or Dance plus three (3) years teaching experience at the college / high school levels.

OR

Bachelor’s degree in Physical Education, Exercise Science, Exercise Physiology, Sports Psychology, Sports Fitness, Human Performance, Kinesiology, Outdoor Recreation Leadership, Human Physiology, or Dance plus three (3) years teaching experience at the college / high school levels.

AND

Recent experience teaching at the college level or teaching adults of varying skill levels is preferred

Demonstrated Competency :

For part-time candidates who do not meet the above qualifications, consideration will be given to those individuals who show expertise in their specialty area by holding a current nationally recognized certification. Teaching experience is preferred.

Additional requirement for Full-Time and Part-Time Faculty :

Successful candidates will secure certifications in American Red Cross First Aid, Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation, and Automated External Defibrillator (FA, CPR, and AED) or equal certifications from another professional organization (i.e., American Heart Association, National Safety Council, National Safety Health Institute) prior to the first day or class.

Note Regarding Academic Credentials

Official transcripts are required to be submitted within 2 weeks of offer date for degrees required in the stated Instructor Qualifications.

Instructors shall have earned required academic credentials at a regionally accredited US institution or a foreign institution having the equivalent of regional accreditation. Instructors with credentials from other countries will have their transcripts evaluated by agencies that have good standing with the National Association of Credential Evaluation Services to establish fulfillment of this standard. Part-time Faculty Compensation at PCC

Newly hired Part-time Faculty at PCC will generally start at Step 1 of the current salary schedule.

Hourly rates are determine based upon the type of course taught (Lecture, Lab, or Lecture / Lab).
