The Maryland Department of Labor (MD Labor), Occupational and Professional Licensing, is accepting applications from qualified candidates for the position of Administrator I. This recruitment will be used to fill current and future vacancies. The resulting eligible list will be maintained for one year after the closing date of the announcement.
An administrator or supervisor encompasses administrative staff work related to the administration of departmental policy and overseeing or coordinating agency operations or functioning as a special assistant to an executive. Employees engaged in overseeing or coordinating agency operations are responsible for planning, organizing, implementing, administering, and supervising the interpretation and application of agency policies, directives, and procedures designed to accomplish the mission of the agency. Employees functioning as special assistants to departmental executives are responsible for program or project review, development, evaluation, and coordination.

Main Purpose of Job
The Assistant Executive Director of the Maryland Home Improvement Commission (MHIC) primary purpose is to supervise, direct , and oversee the licensing, investigative and complaint activities of the MHIC and its supportive clerical activities; to advise and support the MHIC Executive Director in the day-to‑day operations of the MHIC; In the absence of the Executive Director, the Assistant Executive Director is responsible for the Commission and its activities. As such, the incumbent is require to possess a broad knowledge of the Maryland Home Improvement Commission, Guaranty Fund, and the Commission's and Department's statures, regulations, policies, procedures and activities.

Education :
Graduation from an accredited high school or possession of a high school equivalency certificate.
Experience
Four years of administrative staff or professional work.

Employees in this classification may be assigned duties which require the operation of a motor vehicle. Employees assigned such duties will be required to possess a motor vehicle operator's license valid in the State of Maryland.
Special Requirements
All candidates are subject to a background check against files maintained by the Division of Unemployment Insurance (LABOR / DUI) to determine whether any monies are owed to LABOR / DUI as a result of unemployment overpayment / fraud. Any unpaid debt may have an impact on whether or not a candidate is offered employment.
