Essential Functions Provides community support services (e.g. independent living skills training, advocacy, communication assistance, socialization, recreational activities and employment support) Maintains confidential service records within the organizations database and files to comply with programmatic requirements Provides technical support for iPad / iPhone devices distributed through the Telecommunications Equipment Distribution (TED) program Networks and works collaboratively with other service providers (e.g. case managers, mental health providers, and civic and nonprofit organizations) in a manner that is beneficial to consumers service goals, including community presentations and outreach Plans and coordinates joint educational and recreational activities to maintain consumers community involvement and socialization skills Devises outreach plans in the community. Solicits feedback from community members on community needs and works with the Director and team for possible solutions. Provides Deaf Mentoring / ASL Instruction to individuals / families / support providers of deaf / hard of hearing individuals. Performs additional responsibilities / tasks as assigned or requested by Co-Directors to support organizational prioritiesKnowledge, Skills and AbilitiesTo perform the essential functions of this position successfully, an individual should demonstrate the following competencies : Good record keeping, organizational, networking and teamwork skills Familiarity with deaf culture. Knowledge or willing to learn about mental health and developmental disability services, independent living and employment services for deaf, deaf-blind, speech-impaired and hard of hearing individuals Familiarity with local, state, and national resources for deaf, deaf-blind and the hearing loss population Ability to use Microsoft Office software Willingness to travel for business as needed Willingness to work some evenings and weekendsQualifications Seeking an individual who is deaf / hard of hearing to be able to take Deaf Mentor training courses. Fluent signers who are hearing may be considered Bachelors degree in human services or deaf education related field. High school diploma plus work equivalent may be considered Fluency in American Sign Language and other communication strategies for communicating with the non-signing hearing loss populations is required Experience providing direct human services to deaf and hard of hearing consumers
