Summary Of Position

Engineering Intern duties include but are not limited to assisting with various engineering tasks and assignments such as preparing for and conducting field inspections, data reduction, reporting, engineering analyses, and design. Work is performed under the direction of a Project Engineer or higher who makes assignments, provides guidance, and reviews work to ensure that it is completed according to instructions and in accordance with accepted principles and practices of civil engineering.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

• Perform inspections under the direction of higher-level engineers.
• Prepare reports, studies, and related documents.
• Participate in technical review meetings with engineering and planning staff.
• Review engineering plans, reports, studies, and related documents.

The duties of this position require the intern to regularly sit, stand, walk, use hands, reach with hands and arms, and talk and hear. This position may require the employee to lift and / or move up to 25 pounds, and occasionally lift and / or move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required for this position include close vision, distance vision, color vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus. While in the field, the intern may be required to walk in rugged conditions, work in adverse weather conditions, and stand up to eight hours or more at a time. Compensation

The hourly pay range for positions in New Jersey is $24 to $34 an hour, depending on education and relevant experience.
